Léon-Mba International Airport (IATALBV) Dating back to the 1950s this airport is the main international airport in Gabon and serves Libreville. The city is 9Km from the airport and takes 15 minutes by taxi.  There are 2 terminals; domestic and international. There is a good selection of cafes and restaurants as well as a bar ‘The Toucan’ that is open 24 hours a day. It has a well equipped Duty Free shop, newspaper stand and a wonderful chocolate shop where the products are made of Gabonese chocolate.

There are three business VIP lounges; one in the domestic terminal and two in the international one. There are 3 car parks at this airport; one of them is free of charge and the other 2 are paid. Outside the airport taxis are plentiful. There are 2 types of taxis – the white taxis are metered taxis and the red and white taxis do not have meters but you need to negotiate a set price for your journey. On the main floor of the airport there is a good selection of car rental companies including Avis. There is a good selection of hotels that operate close to the airport including Radisson, Fly Hotel  and Onomo Hotel; these often provide shuttle busses.

Gabon is an unexplored part of Africa. A place where more than 11% of the country is parkland, rainforests as well as delightful beaches, rushing waterfalls and eye-catching landscapes. For the traveller Gabon is a wonderful place to visit and as soon as you leave the hustle and bustle of Libreville, you enter into a world of beauty where memories will begin. There are several national parks in Gabon including  Loango National Park. Known by many as ‘Africa’s last Eden’  one can come across a heap of wild creatures in amongst the dense forests. One can also relax on one of the many lagoons or miles and miles of white sandy beaches. It truly is amazing!

A third of the population live in the vibrant city of Libreville. When walking through the streets of Libreville one can almost smell money, it is very noticeable because everywhere is clean, the large villas are impressive and inviting restaurants to suit every appetite. There are many street markets in Libreville that are exciting to walk through and experience the heartbeat of the city. If you are into football; it is recommended to visit the Omnisport Stadium to watch the local team (Libreville FC 105) play; many people say this is an unforgettable experience.
